Merry Christmas

Hi, I'd like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas.

Thank you so much for your support, encouragement, and friendship during my first year of
blogging. I have learnt so much from so many talented and generous people, about design, new techniques, and about compassion and caring for life's joys and sadness.
Thank you :)
I hope 2014 finds us all safe and happy.

A friend wanted a special Christmas card to give to his wife. I hope she likes sparkle and bling!
I used a new die set, Spellbinders min-n-match ornaments with glitter paper. The sentiment and chains are stickers.

I'm linking up to a few challenges.
Scrapbook Boutique has the theme of A Traditional Christmas with this gorgeous picture for inspiration.

Enter Our Challenge - starts 10th each month

At Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge the theme is Bling it On.

I used snippets of glitter paper for the tree and the snowflake so I'm also visiting the playground at Pixie's Crafty Workshop. The playground is one of the first challenges I ever entered. Di and the playmates are so welcoming and full of fun.

There is lots of inspiration for all of these challenges, so take a break from the busyness of christmas preparation and join in if you can.

Thanks for visiting :)

Sparkly Baubles

Hi, I'm finally getting close to the end of the christmas cards I need to make!

I've used these Memory Box dies a lot in the last couple of years, I just change the colours and the layout.
The bauble base was coloured using distress inks, then sprayed with perfect Pearls. Every bauble looks a bit different as the colours dilute with the mist.

I'm entering the Anything Goes challenge at Addicted to Stamps & More, it's their last one for the year and there's still a few days left to join in.

I cut my silver tops and bows using snippets of silver paper. It became a challenge in itself to see how many I could get out of a scrap! So I'm visiting the playground over at Pixie's Crafty Workshop, there's always lots of fun (and mischief) happening there!

At Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge the theme is bling it on! I've used sparkly spray and gems on my baubles.

Materials used: Memory Box snowflake & classic ornament and crisp bow dies; distress inks; Perfect Pearls mist; Stately embossing folder for the card border; watercolor and silver paper; sentiment sticker and bling from stash.

Thank you Flourish

Hi, I've used a lot of silver ink and powder lately, so when I was out meandering around pinterest recently and saw this card by Kez at KB Papercraft blog I was struck by the beautiful blues and gold embossing. Thanks again for the inspiration Kez.

I inked up Darkroom Door's flourish background stamp with gold Versa color and used gold detail embossing powder. The powder seemed to take ages to melt and I thought I was going to scorch the card!
I cut a panel and coloured with a few blue distress inks.

The butterfly stamp is also Darkroom Door (thanks for the birthday pressie Mo!)
I stamped one on vellum but some of the embossing on the body started to crack. So I stamped another on white card distressed with tumbled glass and popped it under the vellum one.

I'm going to link up to a few challenges:

At Less is More the challenge is to use a metallic element and one other colour. I've used gold embossing
 and snippets of gold paper.
At the Simon Says Stamp Monday challenge, the theme is to create with a flourish.

At Freshly Made Sketches there's still some time to join in with this sketch.

At Flutterby Wednesdays the theme is to use any winged creature on your project.

I'm also going to enter the clean and simple themed challenge over at Addicted to Stamps & More.

Materials used: Hammer card base: Darkroom Door stamps; gold ink and embossing powder; Distress inks; vellum; gold paper; Memory Box Butterfly Delights die; sentiment sticker and bling from stash.

Star Ornaments

Hi, when my boys were young I made a heap of these stars with them to decorate our christmas tree. They did the colouring with the kindy glitz. Back then I used a lot of chipboard from the backs of notepads and any dark card scraps I could get hold of. We needed to make quite a lot!

I thought I'd make some new ones and enter the challenge at Crafting with Dragonflies. The theme is to create a christmas ornament for the tree or wall.

I'm also linking up to Holly Jolly Christmas challenge where there's a challenge and a blog hop. The theme is anything goes christmas card or project.

For each ornament I stamped four stars in silver Versacolor and used super fine silver embossing powder. I used  kindy glitz to colour them then taped some silver cord between the inside 2 stars. Finally, glued the outside 2 stars on. They look great on the tree with the christmas lights making them sparkle.

I popped a couple of brads into this sheet of black card to hang the ornaments on. If I was organized and had my tree up I could've photographed them there! It's on the list  for this weekend.

Materials used: PSX stamp, the date on it says 1992!! silver ink and ep; kindy glitz; glue and silver cord from stash.

Thanks for visiting :)

Metallic Christmas Trees

Hi, I found another stash of christmas tree brads that I've had for ages.

The challenge at Less is More is to use a metallic element plus one other colour.  The brads are my metallic element and the sentiment sticker adds a pop of red.

At CASual Fridays the theme is out on a limb, to feature a tree or trees in your project.

Materials used: Metal brads; MFT sentiment die; Swiss dots embossing folder; ribbon and sentiment sticker from stash.

Thanks for visiting :)

Christmas tree brads

Hi, I was inspired to make another card for the ribbon challenge at CASology.

I've had these brads for ages and never used them. Using the swiss dots embossing folder and a paper piercer made lining up the holes for positioning really quick and easy.

The label was cut from a snippet of white using a small Spellbinders rectangle and trimming it to suit. So, I'm popping into the playground again at Pixie's Crafty Workshop.
I'll add another entry to Addicted to Stamps & More where the theme is Clean & Simple.

Here's another version with a dotty ribbon!

Blingy Christmas Trees

Hi, it's so busy everywhere at the moment. There's only 2 more weeks of school left and such a lot to do! I'm looking forward to some quiet time at the weekend to escape into my craft room.

The stamp is an Outlines brand. It has a border of holly around it but I decided just to fussy cut the trees out, and place them on a plain square. The ribbon is really sparkly in real life.

I'm going to link up to the challenges at CASology, where the theme is ribbons, and Addicted to Stamps & More where the theme is Clean & Simple.

The green squares are diecut from a scrap of green card stock, so I'm also visiting the playground at Pixie's Crafty Workshop.

Edited to add: I'm also going to link up to Less is More where the theme is Sparkle, thanks for the suggestion Sue :)

Materials used: Outlines christmas tree stamp: silver ink & embossing powder; Spellbinders square die; ribbon, bling and sentiment sticker from stash.

Christmas sparkle

Hi, I stamped this image while I was at my sisters recently, it may be a Lucys brand stamp. I've coloured it with my Sakura sparkle pens and mounted the images on pearl cardstock.

My apologies if this photo is a little blurry, my internet problems have been joined by camera problems! The bottom of the battery compartment keeps popping open! I'll have to learn how to use hubby's camera.

I'm going to link up to the challenges at:  Less is More where the theme is Sparkle,
Inkspirational where the theme is Anything Goes,  Addicted to Stamps & More, where the theme is Holidays and Simon Says Stamp & Show Wednesday Challenge where is's also anything goes.

Thanks for visiting.

Floral Basket

Hi, I tried to upload some cards last night but my internet is VERY slow and couldn't do it. So I'm up early before work and it is onlyslightly better. We're on satellite broadband and I think there's some problems with over subscription to the service. Have to see what happens.

I stamped this basket on the weekend at my sister's, it's an old Penny Black stamp. The flowers are Heartfelt Creations and the greenery is Memory Box Madeira corner cut from snippets of green card. I cut up and positioned the tendrils with glue at the back of the basket

I'm linking up to the challenge at Addicted to Stamps & More, where the challenge is to Make Your Mark.
I used Prismacolor pencils to colour the basket and tombows to colour the flowers.

Using snippets means I can visit the playground at Pixie's Crafty Workshop, there's always lots of fun things going on over there!

At Inkspirational it's an anything goes challenge this fortnight.

At Seize the Birthday, there's an option of using pink and 2 images or embellishments to celebrate the arrival of  Jenny's twins,

or to create an anything goes birthday card.

Materials used: Heartfelt Creations flower and Penny Black basket stamps; Versafine ink & clear embossing powder; Memory Box Madeira corner die;Punch Bunch tiny flower punch for the flower centres; Kaszazz vine border embossing folder; tombows; prismacolor pencils; sentiment sticker from stash.

White on White Snowflakes

Hi, there are so many beautiful snowflake dies available at the moment! I bought this Memory Box one a while ago and this is it's first use.

I'm linking up to the White on White challenge at Inkspirational, there's a day or so left to join in.

I cut each snowflake from a scrap of white glitter paper and stuck it onto one I'd cut from white card to give it more body. The small flowers are the centres from the snowflakes. Using up snippets means I can visit the playground over at Pixie's Crafty Workshop.

Materials used:Memory Box Rizza snowflake die; Swiss dots embossing folder; sentiment sticker from stash.

Daisy Anniversary

Hi, I've seen quite a few folded daisy cards on blogs over the past little while, including Stamping with Loll  and  Birgit's blog, and I really wanted to have a go at making one.

I recently discovered Selma's blog, she makes the most amazing paper flowers. I've made this card using her daisy tutorial which you'll find here. It's very easy to follow. I didn't have a daisy die but I have an EK Success punch which punches out half a daisy. It was $2.50 at the craft show I went to recently and I thought it was so cheap!.Mind you, it does only cut out half the daisy, which I don't think I registered at the time!
I punched out 2 daisy halves for each flower, shaped them, then glued them together. I followed Selma's tip of using part of the tiny oval scallop die to create the flower centre and to cover it with flower soft.'

My stems are cut from the Simon Says Stamp Fresh Daisies die.

I'm going to link up to the challenge at Addicted to CAS where they are celebrating their first anniversary! Congratulations, hope there are many more to come!

Addicted to Stamps & More has an Anything Goes challenge.

I used heaps of snippets punching my daisies and cutting my stems, so I'm visiting the playground at Pixie's Crafty Workshop.

Materials used: EK Success punch; Spellbinders scalloped oval, oval & floral oval dies: Simon Says Stamp fresh Daisies die; distress ink; flower soft; sentiment sticker, ribbon & bling from stash.

Cactus Birthday

Hi, I stamped this cactus image at my sister's a few months ago. The stamp belongs to a friend near her, thanks Amanda :), so I'm not sure of the brand.
I used Versafine ink and clear embossing powder then fussy cut it. I coloured the cactus with distress inks then used my Prismacolor pencils and gamsol to add some shading. The base card is embossed with my Tim Holtz Sizzix woodgrain folder.

I'm linking up to these challenges:
Addicted to Stamps & More, anything goes.
Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge, Got ink. I used crushed olive and shabby shutters distress ink on my cactus and antique linen and tea dye ink on my layer behind the cactus.

Santa's Hat

Hi, I was inspired to make this card by the challenge over at Scrapbook Boutique
The theme is a bright Christmas and here is the gorgeous inspiration pic.

I used a Jolees Boutique hat sticker; Swiss Dots embossing folder; Spellbinder dies and a Memory Box label die. The sentiment sticker is from my stash.

Silver & Blue Star

Hi, I wanted to create a card for the challenge at Addicted to Stamps and More where they have this gorgeous photo for inspiration.

I stamped a Judikins star stamp that I've had for quite a few years onto a glossy calendar page. The picture was a sailing boat with a cloudy sky, so I managed to fit the star onto the blue sky parts.
I used Versacolor silver ink and fine detail silver embossing powder and  popped a sequin into the centre for some more sparkle. The embossing folder is one I used at my sisters, I think it's a cuttlebug snowflake one.

I'm also going to link up to the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge where the theme is to keep your card Clean & Simple. The Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge is to use ink.

Thanks for visiting :)

Floral Fridge Magnet

Hi, it's finally raining here at last.
We need lots to fill up our water tanks so I hope it settles in for a while!

A work mate gave me some old 2012 calenders with small magnets on the back. I thought  I'd stick some flowers on them so we could put them on our filing cabinets at work!

I used the mini tattered floral dies and cut them out of watercolor paper. I coloured them with distress inks and shaped them using a paintbrush using a technique that I saw done by Amy Bowerman at Plucking Daisies. She has some fabulous tutorials on creating paper flowers.

I threaded 3 onto some florist wire and then wired up some leaves die cut from snippets of green card stock.  I twisted them all together and covered the wires with green florist tape.

The background is diecut using an Mpress nesting die and this is glued onto the calendar. It sticks to my filing cabinet at home, so it's not too heavy. I made another couple of flowers and will get some more magnets finished early this week.

I'm going to link up to the challenge at Crafting with Dragonflies where the theme is to create a flower embellishment.
Since I cut my leaves from snippets I'm visiting the playground at Pixie's Crafty Workshop.

Materials used: Sizzix Tim Holtz Mini Tattered flower die; Memory Box Tender Leaves die; distress ink; beads & florist wire & tape; Mpress nesting die.

Thanks for visiting :)

Cheeky Birthday!

Hi, I'm using a new stamp today that I bought while up in Brisbane.
It's coloured with sparkle gelly roll pens.

Inside on the lining paper I've stamped the other part of the set.

I'm going to link up to the challenge at Seize the Birthday.

At Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge, the theme is Anything Goes.

Materials used: Art Impressions how old stamp set; Versafine and clear ep; gelly roll sparkle pens; Tiny Bubbles embossing folder;

Christmas Lights

Hi again.
I stamped a few images using a friend's stamp when I was up at my sister's a while ago. Not sure what brand it is, and I finally got around to fussy cutting and colouring the images. Thanks again Amanda :)

I used my gelly roll sparkle pens, then covered them with a layer of glossy accents. Here's a better pic of the glassy look.

I'm going to link up with the challenge at CASology, where the cue card is black.

At Less is More, there's a photo for inspiration and the theme is to use a dark background with a splash of colour.

Materials used: borrowed stamp; Versafine & clear ep; sparkle gelly pens; glossy accents; Stately embossing folder; silver cord, brads and sentiment sticker from stash.

Thanks for visiting :)

Christmas Wreath

Hi, I've finally managed to make a card this weekend!
We went shopping to our largest nearby town (1 1/2 hours drive away) yesterday so there wasn't much free time by the time we got home.
Sadly my last chicken was killed by a snake last week, so I thought we'd revamp our worm farm to put our veggie scraps into. While tidying up the garden to reposition the worm container I cut my pinky with the seceteurs, boy are they sharp!! It doesn't need stitches but it'll probably take a while to heal up. I don't think I'll be able to wash the dishes for a while lol!

I made this card to enter a few challenges. At Inkspirational  there's a photo for inspiration.

I used lots of snippets., so I can enter the playground at Pixie's Crafty Workshop. The circle frame for the wreath was a leftover from resizing a circle using a Spellbinder die. The autumn holly leaves are punched from the leftover sheet of watercolor paper I coloured with distress inks to create a couple of autumn themed cards. The green leaves and holly are cut from snippets of green card. It's amazing how you can manipulate a punch to get just one more cut out of a scrap!!

At Simon Says Stamp Monday Blog and Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Blog  the themes are anything goes, and at Addicted to Stamps & More the challenge is to create a Clean & Simple card.

Materials used: Martha Stewart Branch and Holly punches; distress inks; Stately embossing folder; bling and sentiment sticker from stash.

Thanks for visiting :)

Glittery Christmas Tree

Hi,I used my new Impression Obsession tree die to create this card.
My first attempt was scrapped as the glitter paper is so thin it was too hard to glue down.
I glued the glitter paper to a sheet of thin card then die cut it and it held it's shape much better.

I'm going to link up to a few challenges:

I punched my holly leaves out of snippets of green and red, so I'm visiting the playground at Pixie's Crafty Workshop.

Materials used: Cuttlebug Holly leaves ef: IO tree die; Martha Stewart holly punch; glitter paper.

Halloween tag

Hi, this is my 3rd and last post for today! Got to pack to go to Brisbane again to take my eldest son to a medical appointment. So I'll see you soon Mo!

I cut this tag from a Weet Bix box and used distress inks to colour it. The flowers are punched from snippets of watercolor paper coloured with my tombows, and sparkle gelly roll pens. The cat is a Scrapmatts chipboard die cut that I bought at the craft show, also coloured with a gelly roll pen. The snippet of ribbon is nearly the last of the silk ribbon scarps a friend from work gave me, (thanks Chris :).

I'm going to link up to a couple of challenges.
Scrapbook Boutique has a Halloween or colour challenge, to use purple, orange and black.

Here is the inspiration pic.

If you live in Australia, join in, it closes at the end of October.

Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge also has a Halloween or Halloween colour challenge.

Materials used: Distress inks; EK success & Punch Bunch flower punches; Scrapmatts chipboard cat; Sparkle gelly roll pens; Kaszazz vine edge embossing folder; sentiment sticker from stash.

Black & White Wedding

A couple of years ago I saw a technique on a Memory Box blog called Out of the Box. Sue T gave a tutorial for colouring the catalina wreath, inking it with Versamark and clear embossing it. I loved it so much it spurred me to buy the die!

For this card I cut the wreath once each in white and black. The black flowers were cut out and glued onto the white ones. Then I inked and clear embossed. If there are any patches that aren't well covered just ink up and emboss again. The wreath almost feels like it's become plastic!

I'm going to link up to the challenge at Cuttlebug Mania, where the theme is black and white. It's ok to use a tiny bit of colour and you also need to use a manual die cutting machine like a Cuttlebug or Big Shot.

Materials used: Memory Box Catalina Wreath; Versamark ink & clear embossing powder; Leathergrain base card; ribbon, sentiment sticker and pearls from stash.

Gum leaves birthday

Hi, I've been busy with a few cards this weekend, making up for lost time!

I made another card with this gum leaves stamp but did a more CAS version this time. The cue card at CASology this week is Country.

The gum tree is a fairly iconic tree here in Australia, so it always evokes thoughts of home. I live in a rural area too and am surrounded by gum trees!

Materials used: Kaszazz gum leaves stamp; Craf tConcepts Stately embossing folder; Prismacolor pencils; Memory Box twigs & berries die;

Gum Leaves & Blossoms

Hi, it feels like ages since I've made a card! I've been to the craft show in Brisbane with my sister and her friend Amanda and had a great time! Other than that work is flat chat so I've been too tired for crafting.

I used one of my new stamps from Kaszazz.

I stamped 2 images and cut them up to position them on a Memory Box twig. I coloured them with Prismacolor pencils and used flowersoft on the edge of the  blossoms.

I'm going to link up to a few challenges.

At Crafting with Dragonflies the theme is to create a card with trees, nature or leaves.
I embossed a scrap of tan cardstock with my Tim Holtz woodgrain folder, to use as my top layer so I'm visiting the snippets playground at Pixie's Crafty Workshop.

Inkspirational has an anything goes challenge, so I'm going to slip a 2nd entry in there too.

At Make it Monday the theme for your card is always anything goes and to share creativity.

Materials used: Kaszazz stamp: Versafine ink & clear ep; Prismacolor pencils; Tim Holtz woodgrain ef; distress ink; Memory Box twigs & berries die; Flowersoft; sentiment sticker from stash.

Happy Gram CASE

Hi, it's Sunday I finally got a chance to play in my craft room!

I wanted to play along at the Simon Says Monday challenge where the theme is to create a card inspired by Tammy Tutterow. Tammy's work is amazing. I chose to case this one.(Sadly I couldn't watch the video tutorial, my internet speed is pitiful at the moment.)

I think the only supplies I had that matched Tammy's were the distress inks. I cut the tag from white cardstock and blended with the colours Tammy lists on her tutorial. I didn't have biscotti glimmer mist so I made up a spray with water and blue patina perfect pearls. It does give a subtle sheen when you move it around.
I used a Stampin Up bird that I punched at my sister's on a visit a while ago. The flowers and leaves are cut from snippets, coloured with distress ink as well, so
I'm also entering Pixie's Snippets Playground. There's always lots of fun happening there!

At Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge the theme is to use a rubber or clear stamp. My sentiment is a clear stamp from Annabelle Stamps All Things Grow set. It's stamped in Versafine sepia.

Inkspirational has an anything goes challenge. They have just changed to fortnightly challenges to allow more time to enter.

CropStop is celebrating World Card Making Day with a blog hop and a challenge link.

Materials used: Distress inks; Blue Patina Perfect Pearls; Stampin Up bird punch: Memory Box Woodland branch die; Carl flower punch; Impression Obsession leafy branch die; Annabelle stamp sentiment; green silk ribbon scrap from a friend; Birds & swirls embossing folder; bling from stash;

Thanks for visiting :)

Geometric in Autumn colours

Hi, I wanted to try a different kind of card for an Autumn theme and hadn't used this Renaissance Tile stamp I bought a while ago. I stamped it in Versamark and clear embossed, then sponged distress inks to colour it up.

I'm going to link up to some challenges.

At Addicted to CAS, the theme is Autumn.
Addicted to Stamps & More has an anything goes challenge.
At Allsorts Challenge blog, the theme is to use Autumn colours.
At Make it Monday the theme is anything goes and to share creativity.

Materials used: Memory Box stamp; distress ink; versamark and clear ep; sentiment sticker from stash.

Swirl Baubles

Hi, it's the end of the school holidays today, back to work tomorrow! I can't complain as I've had a pretty relaxing break!

I used my new Memory Box swirl ornament die to create these baubles and am
going to link up to a few challenges.

Inkspirational has a colour challenge where you can use any two or all three of the colours in your project.

I diecut the baubles from white card and coloured them with distress inks,  picked raspberry, peacock feathers & iced spruce. The ornament base is cut from white pearlized card though it's hard to see in the photo.

Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge is going dotty! That'll be me in a few days back at work LOL!!
I used my swiss dots embossing folder to add some texture to the base.

Christmas Card Challenges has an inspiration photo if you need it this week. I made baubles instead of lights.

Materials used: Memory Box Classic and Swirl ornament and crisp bows dies; Swiss Dots embossing folder; white pearlized card; distress inks;  bling and sentiment sticker from stash.

Blue Butterfly

I've spent the last couple of days stamping these Hero Arts antique engravings butterflies and colouring them with my Prismacolor pencils. I even tried a tiny flower as a body (a gift from Inspired by Stamping when I received my order).

So, I'm all set for butterflies for the next little while!!

I'm going to enter the challenge at Flutterby Wednesdays, where the theme is anything goes, as long as you have a butterfly or a fairy on your project.

The floral oval on my card is cut from a piece of a real estate calendar. I wanted to try some coated cardstock with my distress inks and this was all I could find! I hope that counts as a snippet so I can visit

Seize the Birthday has an anything goes challenge with the option of adding ribbons as a topper to your birthday card.

Crop Stop is celebrating World Card Making Day with a blog hop and a challenge, it closes on October 31, so there's plenty of time to join in.

Materials used: HA antique engravings stamp; Spellbinders floral oval die; Entangled embossing folder (I think this is now retired); Prismacolor pencil s; Versafine ink & clear ep;  distress inks; stickles: bling & sentiment sticker from stash.

Birthday Rose

Hi, I used my new threading water punch to create the trim on this card. I know it's been around for years, but I finally managed to find it. I used a couple of green snippets and joined them together, the white strip is hiding the join nicely!

I coloured 2 roses with tombows and a water pen, and cut part of one away to add some depth. The stamp is Fifth Avenue floral I think from Stampin Up (it's my sister's stamp).

I'm going to link up to the challenge at Inkspirational where there's a sketch challenge.

Since I used some snippets I'm visiting the  playground at Pixie's Crafty Workshop.
I'm also linking to  Allsorts Challenge Blog, where the theme is how does your garden grow,
and Make It Monday where it's anything goes and to share creativity.

Thanks for visiting :)
